Kampala Police Holds Child Kidnapper

Police is holding a man accused of kidnapping a 2-year-old boy from Ntale Village in Kamukuzi Division in Mbarara district to demand for ransom.
22-year-old Andrew Atugumya was picked up by the Flying Squad from Busega, a Kampala suburb.
Herman Owomugisha, the commandant of the Flying Squad says they started hunting the suspect after Damiano Kihembo, the father of the child notified police on Wednesday afternoon.
He says after kidnapping the minor, Atugumya left a note with a contact number for the child’s parents to reach him, which they used to track him down.
He says they found the child at the suspect’s home. Kihembo says shortly after noticing their child was missing they called the number, only for the suspect to demand a ransom of shillings 20 million.
He explains that they bargained with the suspect and agreed to pay 5 million shillings
