3 Succumb to COVID-19 as Kenya registers 23 new cases, rising infections to 781

AGENCIES | Nairobi – Kenya’s Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Dr. Rashid Aman on Friday announced that coronavirus cases had hit 781 after 23 more patients tested positive.

According to Dr. Aman, the 23 cases – 5 females and 18 males aged between 24 and 85 – were confirmed from 2100 samples tested within the last 24 hours.

The cases are spread across five counties in the country namely; Nairobi (11), Mombasa (5), Kajiado (3), Kiambu (2), and Wajir (2).

The 11 cases confirmed in the capital were recorded in Embakasi (6), Kamukunji (2), Lang’ata (2), and Starehe (1); all the cases in Mombasa were from Mvita and those in Kiambu recorded in Thika.

In Kajiado, two truck drivers from Namanga border point and 1 from Bisil in Kajiado Central sub-county contracted the disease.

Kenya also lost 3 more patients, bringing the total number of Covid-19 deaths to 45.

Dr. Aman, speaking while addressing the press at Afya House, further commended a majority of Kenyans for abiding by the government directives and urged those flouting the rules to shun the habit.
