Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has directed the country’s Cabinet to dissolve the National Agriculture Advisory Services (Naads) due to non-performance.

He made the revelation on Monday at State House Entebbe when he met a delegation of 550 Central Region NRM youth leaders that was led by the Central Region M.P. Patrick Nakabale.

“I Have directed the Cabinet to dissolve NAADS. This is due to the mismanagement of funds.” The president said.

He revealed that the funds which were hitherto allocated to the project would be utilized to enhance agro based production.

According to Sarah Kagingo, the Special Presidential Assistant on Communications, he said that the veterans project led by the UPDF officers has demonstrated exceptional delivery of services to the intended beneficiaries contrary to the fleecing practice of NAADS officials.

This development comes months after the president revealed that all Naadscoordinators in the country will be laid off for failure to transform rural communities from poverty.

President Museveni condemned the NAADS administration for spending Shs 24 billion that the Government allocated to the project in Buganda region (Central Uganda) without any sign of value for money on the ground. He assured the gathering that the shortcomings would be addressed.

He commended the UPDF officers for their exemplary work within the Veterans’ project.

President Museveni said that when the NRM Government came to power, the tax base was very small which led to small revenue collections. He said that since the revenue collections have increased the Government has the capacity to deliver more services to Wanainchi.

He pledged to publish the funds which the Central Government has released to the Districts over the years. He noted that this was due to the Government policy of ensuring transparency and effective delivery of essential services.

  1. PEAP was dissolved, now NAADS. You should also dissolve the NRM because it has also failed to deliver services to the people.

  2. There goes yet another money pinching project that did not live up to expectation. Slowly but surely the NRM is disintegrating like a Lego puzzle. The infighting has culminated into full blown street fights. Surprisingly the protagonists are busy fighting over who takes to the helm even though many members are clearly abandoning ship at a high rate.
