M7, US Envoy Discuss Health and Education

President Yoweri Museveni has directed the Ministry of Health and that of Education to fast track the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the American government so that American experts are enabled to continue work in the two sectors in Uganda.
This comes after the expiry of an earlier Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries.
The President said this during a meeting he held with the US Ambassador to Uganda Scott Delisi at State House, Entebbe.
Under the new MOU, a team of American Medical volunteers would soon come to work in the Uganda’s health sector so that Uganda would be able to consolidate further the achievements that the NRM government has put in place to give the people of Uganda a healthier and more prosperous lives.
Every year, the US government invests over 430 million dollars approximately 1.1 trillion shillings to address critical health issues in Uganda.
In Uganda, the US government strives to enhance security in the region, particularly in Northern Uganda, improve the health and well being of Ugandan people and promote democracy, good governance and prosperity.
President Museveni and the American envoy also discussed international issues premised on economic development among others.
The meeting was attended by Ministers Sam Kutesa of Foreign Affairs, Crispus Kionga of Defence, and the Chief of Defense Forces General katumba Wamala.
