Uganda Cranes captain, Geoffrey Massa is still in shock following Cranes’ 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualification defeat home to Togo on Saturday.
Uganda came into this on the back of a 1-1 away stalemate with Ghana and a 2-0 dismissal of Guinea, thanks to a Geoffrey Massa brace but the brilliant start to the campaign for The Cranes was not to continue half-an-hour into the game, the visitors took the lead, thanks to a Donou Kokou strike.
“It’s so sad we lost at home when everyone expected s to win. I must ask you to help me apologize to Ugandans who made their way to Namboole and all those that watched from home for this loss,” Massa says.
Massa will captain Uganda Cranes in Togo on Wednesday after defender Andy Mwesigwa was suspended for accumulating two yellow cards.
“We promise them we will make an immediate amend come Wednesday.
Cranes remain second in group E on four points, one behind leaders Ghana who drew 1-1 with Guinea on Saturday too.
Uganda and Togo before Saturday had met four times, with the visitors winning two of them; 3-0 and 0-3 home and away, in the 2002 Nations Cup qualifiers. The Cranes will be looking for their first win off the West Africans.
