Mbarara Hospital ED health woes deepen as pal pens sorrowful public letter to wife & Pastor Kayanja, exposing latter’s role in Dr.Barigye’s sickness

If humanity dwells in your heart, I write to you with a painful letter regarding your involvement Dr Celestine Barigye (Director of the Mbarara Regional and Referral Hospital) protracted sickness. I am but a human, not a superhuman, and I ask for forgiveness in advance for any mistakes.
While growing up, I drew inspiration from your sermons, which restored hope to the hopeless and empowered followers to make righteous choices.
However, I am furious and disappointed in your actions regarding the Executive Director of Mbarara Hospital. I feel hurt because I take him as my father, mentor because he guided us while pursuing medicine up to the time he supervised us in the hospital.
A humble man who rose from grass to grace, was successfully operated on for a brain tumor at Mulago National Referral Hospital. However, you allegedly duped his wife, now your pastor, Ruth Birungi, into sneaking him into your miracle center after paying heavily. This is unacceptable.
We doctors know that we treat, and God heals. Your actions have caused harm and confusion besides trashing doctors’ diagnosis and prescriptions in the name of ‘his sickness is spiritual’.
This is not only unprofessional but also irresponsible. It’s ironic that church leaders are rapidly caught on the wrong side. We are not refuting your hand in the process of healing patients. For us medical professionals we know that strong antibiotics alone cannot heal the patient without admission of the heart.
Furthermore, you have deployed a gang of pastors in Mbarara who pray and mention things that the woman wants. This is an abuse of power and manipulation. We friends of the Hospital Director are perturbed by what’s going on and demand that you revisit your intentions and allow the government to take him to the hospital.
Additionally, we are appalled that instead of advising them to go abroad for treatment, you blatantly told them that they were going to the honeymoon as testified by the wife in your church.
Moreover, your silence in the media regarding these allegations is deafening, and your lack of action to help Dr. Barigye and his family is unacceptable. Instead, the wife has been soliciting funds from the church for prayers, which is exploitation and abuse of power.
What do you want exactly? I thought if you wanted money you would encourage the patient to adhere to our prescriptions and routine reviews to get better and testify on your behalf rather than misleading them to the point of losing their lives.
What will you gain if he is removed from the job because you are allegedly telling the wife not to cooperate with the government to take their own to the hospital?
Put yourself in Director’s shoes, Pastor Kayanja. How would you feel if you were in his situation and your lovely wife, Pr Jessica Kayanja, refused to take you to the hospital? Wouldn’t it make sense to prioritize medical attention over spiritual interventions?
We demand that you take responsibility for your actions and prioritize the well-being of those under your care. We also call on Pr Jessica Kayanja to come forward and either explain herself in this matter or extensively counsel Pastor Ruth Birungi to immediately allow the government to take Dr. Barigye to the hospital.
Where things stand, Pastor Ruth Birungi no longer has anything to offer in terms of medical expertise, and it is time to seek professional help.
What kind of disillusions are these? Denying the government to take our own doctor to the hospital because your pastors are hoaxing you that it’s witchcraft?
We doctors and friends of our own shouldn’t sit back while you continue to exploit and harm innocent people. We demand justice and accountability for your actions. What will you tell us in future? It’s high time you apologize and allow the government to take the right action. As an English man says, we will continue to use our pens to express ourselves because the swords have failed. See how you have ruined our integrity and that of our fellow doctor.
Regardless of repercussions, we will continue to cry until the responsible parties take action to ensure that our own selfless doctor is taken for treatment. We strongly believe that God still wants him to serve the country.
The writer describes himself as the Director’s former medical student, friend, believer and a medical doctor at one of the hospitals.
