MPs Pay Tribute To Aronda
The body of late Gen. Aronda Nyakairima is lying in state in the foyer of Parliament Building.
Parliament Speaker Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga together with Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda accompanied by Cabinet Ministers and Members of Parliament were at hand to officially receive the body at Parliament at 10.00am.
Gen. Aronda Nyakairima was the Minister of Internal Affairs and one of the 10 representatives of the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces in Parliament. He died while flying back from an official trip to South Korea on Saturday.
Also at Parliament were the Second Deputy Prime Minister & Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament, Gen. Moses Ali, the UPDF Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Katumba Wamala; NRM Vice Chairman Alhajji Moses Kigongo and NRM Secretary General, Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba; and Clerk to Parliament, Mrs. Jane Lubowa Kibirige.
In the foyer of Parliament, Ministers, MPs and members of the public are paying their respects to the late Gen. Nyakairima and signing the condolence books.
Later in the afternoon, Parliament is to hold a special sitting in which MPs will honor the late Gen. Aronda Nyakairima.
