4GC Activists Trial Flops Again

The trial of 4GC Activists at Kabale Chief Magistrate’s court has flopped for the third time and has been adjourned to the 14th of January 2014.

Mubarak Munyagwa, the Kawempe Division Mayor, Elias Lukwago the Kampala Lord Mayor and Ingrid Turinawe , the chairperson of the Forum For Democratic change- FDC Women League are jointly charged with inciting violence, a crime allegedly committed during a public Rally at Kabale Municipal Stadium on 14th July 2012.

The rally which was also attended by former Forum for democratic change president Col. Kizza Besigye ended in running battles between the Police and FDC supporters who had been blocked from matching Kabale Garage Street and Kisoro road.

Four Police officers were injured in the ensuing confusion while several police vehicles were severely smashed.

Today the activists were supposed to appear before Kabale chief Magistrate Amos Kwizera but the Magistrate never turned up. the case was instead handled by Grade two Magistrate Charles Khadis who adjourned the same Case to January 14, 2014.

Lawyer Wilfred Murumba of Murumba and Matsiko advocates represented the activists in court. He later talked to our reporter.
