Who Is The Member Of World Netball Between UNF And Uganda Government ?

By Emma Amooti

We all know the sport called Netball back in those years it  has been suffering to an extent of organising Car Wash drives to get funds to cater for the national team.
One time the national netball team (She Cranes) traveled by road to and from Malawi, to compete in the Africa netball championship due failure to have funds. But we intend to forget all the hardships.
Thanks to the Current Uganda netball federation president Hon Sarah Babirye Kityo and her executive who have worked hard to build the brand and bringing on several sponsors on board, She Cranes currently has the best Replica jersey every Ugandan admire to associate with now, Currently Uganda is  ranked 7th in the world and second on continent which puts the game in a position of being in a need to jealousy be protected by the leaders in the game, government and the public.

However, the reverse is true, the game of netball in Uganda is not genuinely protected and as we speak now, it’s no longer recognized by the government of Uganda.
On  Wednesday, October  25th 2023, this  day went in history books as the sports governing body National Council of Sports withdrew its certificate from Uganda Netball Federation and it’s no longer allowed to represent Uganda in any international competitions.
This has come less than a month to the continent Championship African Nations championship that will throw  off on November 26th  2023 in Gaborone, Botswana.
When the public and the delegates on different platforms revealed that, it’s not about the governance issues or accountability but a total witch hunt on Hon. Babirye Kityo Sarah and her executive, citing that because she went out and highlighted the corruption  in the sports governing body, National council of sports.
With the success Babirye Kityo  and her team brought to the nation at world stage and structuring the game locally to join the ranks of big sports disciplines in Uganda currently, the public believes Babirye Kityo is the best person to still lead the game.

In one of his interviews, National Council of Sports board chairperson, Ambrose Tashobya cited that even though they have withdrawn the certificate from Uganda Netball Federation, they are going to write to World Netball to allow them have a normalization committee as they iron out the governance issues in Netball.
The NCS chairman Tashobya Ambrose wants to tell the nation is; World Netball is going to directly deal with the government of Uganda minus consulting her member?  NCS should know that Uganda Netball Federation is a full member of world netball headed by Hon Sarah Babirye Kityo  not the government of Uganda.
Is World netball going to sit the current UNF executive that is under Hon. Babirye Kityo and forge away forward in the direction of the game of netball in Uganda?
Is World Netball going to side with NCS at least 70% of the UNF executive doesn’t side with Babirye who still has the trust of the delegates and the public at Large? And by the way looking at the 70%, NCS is stating the majority who signed are not recognised members of Uganda netball federation.
It Should Noted that, Uganda Netball Federation Executive took to the courts of law, National council of sports and the dates of starting hearing the matter have been fixed.

According to inside sources, on many occasions, it is alleged that the government of Uganda has been writing to world netball about the same governance issues in the game of netball but they have stayed silent, are they going to act this time round and which image are they going to paint to her other members.?
One wants to understand, does world netball listen to the elected President and her executive  or  the appointed President and her executive ?
Meanwhile, All those questions are waiting how World Netball will handle the issues of netball in Uganda to prove it’s fairness, also redpepper shares with you the screenshots on people’s reactions.
