Byarugaba Back As NSSF MD
NSSF MD Richard Byarugaba
Richard Byarugaba has been reappointed as Managing Director of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF). Geraldine Ssali, who has been the acting MD, is reappointed as Byarugaba’s deputy.
Finance Minister Maria Kiwanuka’s office made the announcement this morning.
Byarugaba has been NSSF MD for five years (2010-2014). Byarugaba has been credited with transforming the fund into an efficient, transparent and profitable organisation capable of competition in a liberalised pension sector.
It is estimated that by the time his new tenure expires in 2017, the fund’s asset base will have reached six trillion making it the biggest in the country.
The 49-year old Byarugaba is a seasoned banker with 27 years’ experience.
The Finance Ministry also announced the reappointment of Richard Wejuli Wabwire as Corporation Secretary of NSSF
