Ambitious! Uganda coach Micho Sredojevic Aiming To Beat Madagascar And Eight More Afcon Battles

Uganda coach Micho Sredojevic

MichoUganda coach Micho Sredojevic has said that his team are aiming beating Madagascar and winning both games second round and group games possibly.

The Cranes need to beat Madagascar 1-0 in the return leg due May 31 (Saturday at Namboole Stadium) in Kampala to progress to the third round, where either Mauritania or Equatorial Guinea lay in wait.

Uganda were outplayed by the hosts for the better part of the game and the scoreline could have been worse for them had the Barea not squandered their penalty when they were 2-0 up but Micho has come in and given the team a renewed confidence.

Micho said: “We are hoping to beat Madagascar and the either Mauritania or Equatorial Guinea in both legs. Four-time African champions Ghana lay in wait in Group E – where Uganda may find themselves – alongside Togo and Guinea, should Uganda negotiate the second and third rounds.

Uganda last appeared at Africa’s top football festival in 1978, then losing finalists to hosts Ghana.
“I am very optimistic and positive that in process we are work in progress, we shall reach demanded standards.”
