He also missed the first leg through been brought in to cover for AWOL fellow teenager Francis Olaki who played in the Madagascar defeat.

Kenya-based players Geoffrey Kizito, Dan Sserunkuuma and Khalid Aucho also joined the team on Tuesday.

“I’m not thinking about suddenly becoming first choice upfront on Saturday,” Sentamu tells Red Pepper Online at Uganda’s training base in Namboole on Tuesday.

“I have to enjoy training that’s been given to me and learn from these great players who I actually look upto to for inspiration,” he added.

“After that we’ll see what happens. Olaki is away yes, but I’m not thinking about that because I have to fight for a place still. There are very good players available and no one knows what will happen on Saturday. Coach Micho actually decides afterall.

“It was a good experience (in South Africa 2014 CHAN),” he said. “I learned a lot, both as a footballer and a person. I had a deal to get a club there but am happy with the Congolese club so far.

The ex-Vipers striker, in his late teens, on 19 April 2014 joined Democratic Republic of Congo side AS Vita on a four-year renewable deal.
Sentamu first introduced himself to the continent when he expertly scored all Uganda’s three goals in January/February’s Africa Nations Championship (Chan) in South Africa.

“I knew my chances were not as good but thankfully I have the chance to play in my first big home match, and I will fight to be in the starting eleven.”

He will contend with established stars Emma Okwi, Dan ‘Mzee’ Sserunkuma, Geoffrey Massa, Hamis Kiiza and rookie Farouk Miya for a starting slot.

Uganda needs a goal without reply in Kampala this Saturday to progress to the final preliminary round of qualification to the 2015 Nations Cup in Morocco.
