Henry Kalungi Joins Mawejje Out Of Zambia Friendly
Cranes coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic is facing more squad woes as it is confirmed US-based defender Henry Kalungi jons a host of other Uganda regulars missing the international friendly against Zambia on March 5th in Ndola.
Kalungi was expected to join the team that left for Zambia last night on Monday evening from the States but FUFA vice president Mujib Kasule confirmed that the defender alongside midfielder Tony Mawejje, Kenya based Goeffrey Walusimbi who is serving his suspension and three KCCA FC players, Brian Majwega, Tony Odur and Ivan Ntege will not be part of the team.
“Kalungi applied for a South Africa visa and cannot travel because he has not received his passport yet and Mawejje, who joined Haugesund FC in Norway recently, is very busy with his new team,” said Kasule.
In their last meeting at the same Stadium in 2012 in an AFCON qualifier, Zambia won 1-0 before the Cranes won by the same margin in Kampala, and the former African champions won on penalties.
