Katikkiro Mayiga is set to meet Buganda Kingdom loyalists and supporters living in Ankole this Saturday 8th, February 2014 to fundraise money for the reconstruction of Kasubi royal tombs.

His visit has been widely protested by members of Ankole cultural trust on grounds that he did not seek their permission as the caretakers of the defunct Ankole kingdom.

The Ankole Kingdom Prime Minister Ankole William Katatumba early this week wrote to the Inspector General Police Kale Kayihura to halt Katikkiro Mayiga’s visit to the area until the differences are resolved.

Katatumba also wrote another letter to the Bunganda Kingdom head Kabaka Ronald Mwenda Mutebi expressing their dissatisfaction over the visit.

Following the petition, the IGP Kayihura deployed a special team of police personnel commanded by the head of operations and mobilization Grace Turyagumanawe to oversee the visit.

Turyagumanawe earlier was in charge of Katikkiro Mayiga’s visit to Bugerere.

The police personnel’s have deployed at Igongo cultural centre, four kilometers from Mbarara town along the Mbarara Masaka road. This is anticipated to be PM Mayiga’s first stop during his visit.

Turyagumanawe on Friday met the two worrying factions and warned them to follow the law.

Among the guidelines issued to Katikkiro Mayiga’s entourage is not to antagonise the values of Ankole culture.
