50 Year Old Arrested for Luring 14 Year Old Into Marriage
Police in Luweero has arrested a 50-year-old man for allegedly kidnapping a 14-year-old Primary Seven Pupil and luring her into marriage.
The suspect is identified as Moses Ssembajjwe a resident of Mpumudde village in Makulubita Sub County, while the victim is a candidate of Bbowa Primary School.
Topher Gimei, the Luweero CID officer confirmed that the Police received a complaint over a month ago from Eria Basekka 48 the victim’s father, who never knew the whereabouts of her daughter.
Since then, Police, residents and the parents have been looking out for the girl who was later sighted at Ssembajjwe’s home by a passerby.
Gimei said that the suspect was then picked up from his home, along with the victim, before being taken to Luweero Central Police station for questioning.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect had barred the victim from stepping out of the house since the kidnap and that the suspect had impregnated the girl two months before the kidnap. She had then lived with the parents with the pregnancy without their knowledge.
Medical reports have confirmed that she is now three months pregnant.
