CECAFA: Uganda Opens With Rwanda


Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic will not be going for revenge when Uganda face Rwanda in the opening game of the Council for East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) 2013 Senior Challenge Cup at the Machakos Stadium, located 60km out of Nairobi town on November 29th .
This year’s event, which will attract 11 CECAFA member nations and guest side Zambia, will take place November 27 to December 12.

The defending champions Uganda Cranes will hope his young crop of players who played out a 0-0 draw against Rwanda on Saturday perform well at this year’s tournament has been sponsored by the government of Kenya, Coca Cola, Gotv and SuperSport.
According to the fixtures released on Monday, Zanzibar will face South Sudan in the opening match on November 27 at the Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi, before the hosts Kenya take on in-form Ethiopia later at the same stadium in game 2.
COSAFA champions Zambia will start the campaign on November 28 against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania at the Machakos Stadium. Musonye said the group stages will conclude on December 5th, before the quarterfinals on December 7-8 and the semis on December 10th.
Group A: Kenya, Ethiopia, Zanzibar, South Sudan
Group B: Tanzania, Zambia, Burundi, Somali
Group C: Uganda, Rwanda, Sudan, Eritrea
