Inzikuru Appointed Police Coach
Former World and Olympic steeple chase champion Dorcus Inzikuru has been appointed coach of the Uganda Police Force female runners team.
Inzikuru, now 33 years of age, joined the Uganda Police Force early last year after President Yoweri Museveni directed that she should be recruited.
She trained at Masindi police training school where she was commissioned as an Assistant Inspector of Police and then appointed to head the female police force runner’s team.
Currently, the 29 member team is led by Benjamin Nzia also a one-time athlete and a former captain of Uganda’s World University Cross Country team.
Currently the group has its training wing in Kibuli.
Inzikuru in an interview on Monday says her recruitment and subsequent appointment to head the female police runner’s team as a coach was God given.
Inzikuru says her appointment shows that extra-curricular activities such as sports is rewarding as long as one is dedicated to it with passion. She has promised to take the Force to greater heights.
Benjamin Nzia, head of the Police runner’s team said that they have laid full strategies with Inzikuru to start training for the team.
According Nzia, the appointment of Inzikuru, will help the Police sports team achieve its objectives of “wanting to become a leader in the region.”
