The former Sembabule district Education officer is being accused of forging academic documents and impersonating as a well-educated candidate, suited to be a people’s representative in Parliament.

Nakabira recently declared her intention to switch from the bigger Lwengo district seat to the Bukoto south constituency seat, currently represented in Parliament by Mathias Nsubuga, a DP stalwart.

However, a group led by Abu-baker Byayi, an area politician has come out to block the bid. They claim that Nakabira is using her sister’s academic papers.

Byayi explains that it is not possible for Nakabira to have completed junior education in 1969 as she claims, considering that she was born in 1962.

According to Byayi, Nakabira uses her sisters Grade Two Teachers qualifications in the names of Irene Nakabira.

Byayi also claims that Nakabira occupied the office of the Sembabule District Education Officer on the orders of Sam Kuteesa, a former minister and legislator from Mawogola County and now President of United Nations General Assembly.

He argues that if the Job was offered on merit, she would be the wrong choice for it.

But Nakabira scoffs at the instigators of the move saying they are being used by her opponents to frame her and block her candidacy.

She affirms that she went to Kyanukuzi primary school where she completed the primary cycle before joining Buloba Teachers College.

She adds that by the time she completed her grade three training course, her sister Irene Nakabira was in primary three.

She however adds that she went for further trainings thereafter to achieve the minimum requirement for a legislator.

MP Nakabira accuses Muhammad Mbabaali, the Lwengo NRM Chairman of attempting to bribe her sister Irene Nakabira into framing her to sustain the argument.

However, Muyanja Mbabaali, the controversial Lwengo NRM Chairman who is accused of facilitating the campaign to discredit MP Nakabira’s academic qualification has denied involvement.

He said in a telephone interview that he is not aware of what Nakabira is talking about.

In 2011, Masaka High Court kicked Muyanja Mbabaali out of parliament after it was established that he forged academic documents. He also missed a ministerial appointment over the same.
