Uganda’s Under-23 national team will play their Thai counterparts in two international friendly games scheduled for Friday November 16th and Tuesday 19th in Bangkok.

The team under coach George Ssemogerere flew to the Asian country on Thursday and the matches were an arrangement by Thailand Football Association and Anton Bakry Trading Company. The hosts will cater for the transport costs for the entire team and accommodation, together with an appearance fee that was not disclosed.

On Tuesday evening the local FA had called off the trip after FIFA did not reply to sanction the international friendly games before the Confederation of African Football (CAF) wrote to Mengo clearing the U-23 team to travel to Thailand.

“I am happy that finally the matches were cleared to take place because it will help our boys get the international exposure ahead of the 2016 Olympic qualifiers,” said Ssemogerere.
