Uganda have lined up an international friendly match against Zambia in preparation for the the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Uganda Cranes will take on the Chipolopolo away from home in March, the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has announced.
The match will be played on 5th March, 2014 at Ndola Stadium in Zambia. The last time the two met, Zambia beat Uganda 9-8 on penalties after trailing 1-0 in regular time to get an opportunity to defend the Africa cup trophy in South Africa .
“The two National teams Uganda Cranes and Chipolopolo of Zambia will play their game on 5th March, 2014 in Ndola.
‘We are happy to have such a high profile friendly with one of the biggest teams on the continent. We are certain that it will help the coach test out his players against a good team’ said FUFA CEO Edgar Watson.
The Uganda Cranes Squad will be announced soon as it is being finalized by the Cranes technical side.”
The 2015 AFCON preliminary rounds of the qualifying process will be played between May and August, with the final phase taking place from 5 September until 26 November.
Uganda will only know her opponents on April 27 after the draws are conducted in Cairo, Egypt.
The teams that will have to battle in the preliminary round include Uganda, Libya, Equatorial Guinea, Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Benin, Sierra Leone, Congo, CAR, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Liberia, Gambia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Namibia, Burundi, Lesotho, Guinea Bissau, Madagascar, Chad, Sao Tome, Seychelles, Comoros, Mauritius, Swaziland, Eritrea, Mauritania and South Sudan.
